World Series Game 7 Draws 51M Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japan Markets.

The thrilling extra-inning clash where the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run attracted a total 51 million spectators across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball announced this represents the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable contest drew 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, the fourth game was seventh, the fifth game was eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth position.

Global Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English-language program in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – averaged over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The full seven-game World Series drew 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two straight years.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the complete American average reached 16.1 million. The total World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09 million watchers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and Fox’s best playoff ratings since 2017.

MLB announced that the World Series was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen various languages.
